Introduction to Annaprashan (First Feeding Ceremony)

Annaprashan is a sacred Hindu ritual performed to introduce solid food (usually rice) to a baby for the first time. This ceremony, also called Anna Prashan Sanskar, is one of the 16 Samskars (sacred rites of passage) and is considered vital for the child’s health, growth, and well-being.

Traditionally, the ceremony is held when the baby is 6–8 months old, depending on the child’s development and family customs. It is performed with rituals, prayers, and blessings from elders and deities.
