About Vidyarambham

Vidyarambham, also known as the Education Initiation Ceremony, is a traditional South Indian ritual performed to mark the beginning of a child’s formal education. Usually conducted on auspicious days like Vijayadashami (Dussehra), this sacred ceremony invokes the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, Lord Ganesha, and other deities for wisdom, knowledge, and success in learning. It is a joyous occasion for families, combining devotion, culture, and celebration, while guiding the child on the path of education and enlightenment.

• Kalash Sthapana & Grah Shanti – Prayers for peace, prosperity, and divine blessings.

• Writing of First Letters – The child is guided to write their first letters, usually on rice, sand, or a plate, as a symbol of beginning education.
